Like I said - corny. But I did think the shiftless skonk at the lower right of the frame came out appropriately shady looking, though the quality of this image pretty much prevents one from seeing that...
Mr. Mean is a repository for and sampling of my published writings - mostly my
ostensibly humorous essays, which have appeared in various
publications.
I was born a cranky, balding, middle-aged curmudgeon in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I honed my satirical edge - such as it is - in the 1980s producing the long-running daily cartoon "Our Heroes" for the University of Tennessee's Daily Beacon. My main other qualifications for writing
satire are a seething cynicism toward the established order, a
fundamental suspicion of all things "normal," and a despairing endurance of decades in the marketing, advertising, and editing worlds.
I resides in Knoxville with my lovely and tolerant wife, Dana, our
banana-eating dog, Dakota, and three cats, Linus, Lucy, and Bailey, each of whom possesses varying degrees of wickedness.
